Peace Island Park
Peace Island Park is a large campground with an impressive and scenic riverside location. The site spans 3.5 kilometres along the Peace River and is just off of the Alaska Highway. The park has numerous powered, non-powered and full-service sites and during large events can accommodate more than 1,000 camping units. At Peace Island Park campers and visitors will find nature trails, picnic areas and ample green space for playing or relaxing. The park also has a popular boat launch, a children’s playground and during the winter, a variety of cross country ski trails.
The Rocky Mountain Fort General Store as well as the Rocky Mountain Fort Museum are located in Peace Island Park. The park hosts a number of events including CanolaFest, the famous Worlds Invitational Gold Panning Championships, annual World Jet Boat Championships, Sand Sensations BC, weddings, anniversaries, and more events. At Peace Island Park, guests will feel rested and rejuvenated. The park has a five star accommodation rating and is praised for its ample room, plenty of green space and riverside location.
Peace Island Park is an amazing community asset for the residents of Taylor and for the visitors to their community. The land is owned by BC Hydro and leased by the District of Taylor. The District hires a contractor to manage the campground and host events in the park throughout the year.
