To qualify for a profile your business must meet the following criteria:

A) You operate a business, non-profit or charity that sells retail goods and or provides services.

B) Your business is NOT a franchise, direct sales enterprise, distributorship or branded dealership.

C) Your business or organization is owned and operated in Northern British Columbia.

Crafty Folks is an arts and crafts supply store that also offers classes for the public on a wide variety of fun and educational craft and art techniques. They have a large stock of supplies for quilting, cake decorating, sewing, beading, yarns, needle crafts, candle making, soap making, wedding supplies, scrap-booking, fine art and general craft supplies.

Classes for all types of arts and crafts are offered throughout the year at Crafty Folks – for children and adults and for all skill levels – from beginner to advanced. They offer Wilton classes with certified instructors, sewing lessons, quilting classes and much more.

Meet Lisa Folk

Lisa loves living in Taylor and feels that people really look out for one another and support each other. "There is a sense of family in a small town that transcends bloodlines," she said, "you have a history with those surrounding you that gives a sense of security and support you can't find easily anywhere else."

Lisa, together with her husband Brian, opened Crafty Folks in 2006. "I have always been a crafter and artist and teaching what I know is something that comes very natural to me," said Lisa. She loves seeing the look on a client's face when they learn to do something they did not think they could do. Lisa is proud of the selection of classes they offer and of the wide variety of items they have in stock.

Lisa feels that the businesses in Taylor work together to ensure the area has a good selection of complimentary goods and services. "We are all supporting each other and sending customers their way if we can't help them," Lisa explained, "this keeps us all in business." She has noticed more new businesses starting up and credits the lower overhead costs and a community that supports shopping local.
